Syracuse with its Greek theatre, Roman amphitheatre and Ear of Dionysius is only 30 km away. At 6 km from Noto you will find the beaches of Lido di Noto, Eloro, Pizzuta, Cala Mosche, Vendicari, characterised by their crystal-clear water (the Lega Ambiente has awarded 5 sails). Other very interesting sights to visit are: Mount Etna , the highest active volcano in Europe; the Alcantara Gorges; Taormina with its Greek Theatre and the old part of the city; Giardini Naxos; the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento; Piazza Armerina, famous for its ceramics; the Villa Romana del Casale in Caltagirone. Nature lovers should visit: the Vendicari nature reserve, a resting place for birds during their migration from Africa to northern Europe; Cava Grande di Avola - a natural canyon with its freshwater lakes; Pantalica - a place where traces of prehistoric man have been found.
